Culinary Tour to Southern India:
January 15 to January 25, 2012
-
Tour is Full

Southern India is very different from northern India in terms of the people, languages, food, culture, temples, clothes and fashion. In practically every aspect it is impossible to miss that you have crossed the Vindhya mountain ranges and entered Peninsular India. The region, divided into the four states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, has traditionally been somewhat detached from the rest of the country, mostly due to its geographical location. It has its own, checkered history of dynasties and rulers that dates back two thousand years, and the signs of its conquests across southeast Asia can be found in countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Sri Lanka.

India’s culture, like its people, is a rich mosaic whose myriad elements have been born of its ancient roots and foreign influences. It is vibrant and chaotic, a land of incredible contrasts and paradoxes.

Come with us, as we peel back the different layers of India for you. Wherever you are from, you will find something that touches your heart in India.

Culinary Tour to Turkey: September 23 to October 1, 2012

Come with us on a culinary odyssey through ancient, Ottoman, and modern Turkey, and get to the heart of the culture through an exploration of its scrumptious cuisine and wine. Sample the infinite variety of regional Turkish specialties in their natural setting. Delve into the secrets of Turkish dishes by participating in a cooking class. Visit bustling markets to learn about the herbs, spices and condiments prevalent in Turkish cookery. You’ll come away with a knowledge of the culinary traditions of Turkey and a deep appreciation of the magnitude of history and culture that this ancient land possesses.

But it’s not all about food and wine. We’ll see the major tourist sights in Istanbul, in the Aegean and in magical Cappadocia, where we can take a sunrise balloon ride and gently soar above its surreal lunar landscape before landing for a champagne breakfast. And, we’ll still have time to shop and relax along the way.
