Join Tom Lonsway, owner of Stone Arch Brewpub, on an exciting beer lovers tour of England. You'll discover the long history and tradition of English brewing, while enjoying the varied brews available in England, including mild, old ale, brown ale, bitters, stout, and most importantly, real ale. In-between your brewery and brew pub visits we will take time to explore the streets of London, wander through the charming towns of Salisbury and Devizes, and stop for a visit to the White Cliffs of Dover and Stonehenge. So come enjoy some of the best brews England has to offer. |
Day 1
Depart for London.
Day 2 - (D)
Arrive at London Heathrow or Gatwick airport. Private transfer to Faversham.
Check in to the hotel and enjoy the afternoon on your own.
We will have dinner (included) and a private tour at Shepherd Neame brewery, England's oldest operating brewery. We will join a guided tour which will take us through the heart of this busy working brewery to see how beer is made from barley to bottle and from hop to hand-pump! We will taste natural mineral water from the brewery's well, try some malted barley and smell locally-grown Kentish hops. The tour covers all aspects of brewing from raw material to distribution. Vehicles from the brewery's historic fleet are on display, along with a recreated cooper's workshop, bygone pub signs and a collection of hop-picking memorabilia.

Day 3 - (B)
After breakfast at the hotel we will drive to the White Cliffs of Dover. Enjoy a curated tour of the Dover area, taking in a multitude of stunning, historical and photogenic locations. At the first stop, Samphire Hoe, you will enjoy breathtaking views of Shakespeare’s Cliff which was formed from chalk spoil from the Channel Tunnel. Next, head to the Battle of Britain Memorial where you can pay your respects to those who flew Hurricane and Spitfire planes in the Battle of Britain during World War II. Here, you can also admire unrivaled views of the English Channel and even see all the way to France on a clear day. We will then head to the East Cliff and Warren Country Park. Learn more about the history of human settlement in the area and admire coastal views from Folkestone back to Dover. Next, we head to St Margaret’s Bay, located at the foot of the White Cliffs and see the closest pub to France and the location where channel swims start. Finally, we will stop for a photo at the iconic White Cliffs of Dover where you can admire views of the whole town, castle, and harbor.
We will stop for a pub lunch on the way back to Faversham.
Afternoon on your own.
Tonight we will enjoy a pub crawl followed by a pub dinner.

Day 4 - (B)
After breakfast at the hotel we will have exclusive access to the National Hop Collection, held at Queen Court Farm, Faversham. It comprises historic English hop varieties and elite breeding lines from the commercial hop improvement program of the British Hop Association.
After lunch at a local pub we will depart for Salisbury and check in to our hotel.
We will enjoy a tour of Salisbury Cathedral. Started in 1202 AD, this cathedral has the highest spire in England. We will continue our tour with a stroll through the ancient town center.
In the early evening, we will gather for a pub crawl followed by a pub dinner.

Day 5 - (B)
After breakfast at the hotel we will head to Stonehenge. Walk in the footsteps of your Neolithic ancestors at Stonehenge – one of the Wonders of the World and the best-known prehistoric monument in Europe. With a history spanning 4,500 years, Stonehenge has many different meanings to people today. It is a spiritual place and a source of inspiration. Explore the ancient landscape on foot and step inside the Neolithic houses to discover the tools and objects of everyday Neolithic life. Visit the world-class exhibition and visitor center with 250 ancient objects and come face-to-face with a 5,500-year-old man.
After lunch, we continue our day with the Wadworth Brewery Tour. We will discover traditional brewing skills and appreciate cask ales at their best as you enjoy an extensive tour of the Victorian tower buildings, starting in the Visitor Center. You’ll gain knowledge of the Wadworth history and heritage as you learn about the unique, traditional skills that the brewery still practices today. Follow the interesting gravitational brewing process down through four floors and round off your tour with a tasty selection of Wadworth cask ales.
In the early evening, there will be time on your own with your guide supplying you a list of pubs and restaurants within walking distance.
Overnight near Devizes.
Day 6 - (B)
After breakfast at the hotel we will depart for London, one of the oldest, most dynamic, diverse, cultural and historic cities on Earth. We will enjoy an overview to get us familiar with the city and its highlights. Over the next two days, we will be seeing the great sights of London.
Today we will visit St Paul’s Cathedral. Dominating the skyline of London is the dome of this magnificent 17th Century cathedral. Inside is one of the glories of the city, a sumptuous work of Baroque architecture. Built in the aftermath of the Great Fire of London in 1666, St Paul’s has been the focus of the city ever since. National heroes are buried here; major funerals are held here. The emblem of London’s survival during WWII, Lady Diana Spencer married Prince Charles here in 1981 and the old woman sold her bird food here in the movie ‘Mary Poppins.’
After lunch we will take the Bermondsey Beer Mile Brewery Tour. We will have an expert lead us on a tour of 3 taprooms in Bermondsey and discover some great new beers. Our guide will take us through the history of the area and the beers we will discover along the route.
Dinner at a local establishment.

Day 7 - (B)
After breakfast. our guide will meet the group in the lobby where we will make our way to Westminster Abbey for a tour and learn about all the kings and queens who have been crowned here. It has been the host of many royal weddings and is also the burial place of many famous figures! We will pass exteriors of Big Ben and Houses of Parliament. Following a light lunch they will then continue to the Tower of London which was home to every British Monarch. It is one of the most famous castles in the world which has witnessed many executions and houses the famous Crown Jewels.
Dinner at a local establishment followed by a City of London historic pub crawl.
